The area of pediatric plastic surgery encompasses a broad spectrum of deformities from congenital deformities to post-traumatic deformities. The functional and social implications of this area of medicine are life changing and require a diverse set of skills to manage. The central focus is the same, restoration of a child’s deformity to as normal as possible.
Dr. Chariker has special training in plastic surgery, craniofacial surgery, maxillofacial surgery and hand surgery that enable him to address this broad and complex arena. Dr. Chariker is co-director for the clinic for Children with Special Healthcare Needs which is a team of physicians that manage many of the craniofacial deformities in the state. He also is past director of Operation Hope which travels to the Philippines to correct many of these deformities. He has been involved with this project for the past 12 years.
